El Gouna

El Gouna is also known as “The Little Venice of the Red Sea”, because of its network of lagoons and canals to creating a city of beaches linked by bridges across the clear turquoise water. It has built the reputation of a “green” resort and is run in an environmentally responsible way. El Gouna is a resort destination like Hurghada but less crowded.

The modern Resort of El Gouna lies about 25km north of Hurghada. It is therefore (relatively) less accessible to mass tourism like Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh. There are two main beaches: Mangroovy Beach, focusing on leisure and outdoor parties, and Zeytuna Beach, located on an island, which has a 600-metre long jetty reaching out into the sea over the coral reef.

El Gouna is a few hours by boat from some of the famous Sharm El Sheikh dive sites so when visiting El Gouna, also consider diving the wrecks at Abu Nahas and the Thistlegorm!
