Known locally as “Barefoot Perfect,” Placencia has 25km/16miles of golden sand, the only golden-sand beaches on mainland Belize. The south of Belize is about hanging out on the beach, diving, snorkeling and relaxing without too many crowds and no stress. The Southern Part of Belize is also a great destination if you want to combine diving with other, mainland (outdoor) activities, such as heading out to the Nature Reserves to spot a Jaguar. The main parks that rank Belize as the most jaguar-populated country in the world are entered from this region.

This area is far away from the touristy ones like Ambergris Caye and Belize City, offering the visitor a mixture of cultures and activities in a much more laid back setting. Because of its position on a narrow peninsula of white beaches, right in front of the Caribbean coastline, it is a popular destination for beach lovers.
