Corvo and Flores (18 km away) make up the Western Group of the archipelago. Corvo, also known as “The Black Island”, is the smallest island and is known to be a bird watching paradise. Corvo is an extinct volcano with a huge crater, forming a spectacular landscape. There is a voluntary marine reserve, showing the importance to building the diving tourism. Currently there are about half a dozen dive spots, so diving at Corvo is nice in combination with other outdoor activities. It can also be combined with (daytrips to) Flores.
