The genesis of the Azores is found upon 1766 volcanoes, nine of which are still dormant. Underground, almost 300 volcanic cavities, including caves, ravines and cracks, have been surveyed and can be (partly) visited.

Whale watching, hiking, geotourism, golf, and national parks; the archipelago of the Azores is renowned for its natural beauty and each of the nine islands has its own charm. São Miguel, Terceira and Pico seem to be the main attractions from a non-diving perspective. Corvo and Flores are the most tranquil, remote (outdoor) locations with only a few towns and not many inhabitants.

Boat trips from Faial, Pico and São Miguel, also provide the opportunity to try and spot sperm whales and dolphins.
