Most of the diving in Turkey is on the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts, often referred to as the Turkish Riviera or The Turquoise Coast. This area is in the Southwestern part of Turkey encompassing the provinces of Antalya and Muğla, and to a lesser extent Aydın, southern Izmir and western Mersin.

The combination of a favorable climate, warm sea, an endless shoreline and the rich natural and archeological points of interest makes this area a popular tourist destination. The most popular destinations are Alanya, Antalya, Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, and Kas, out of which the last two are the main diving destinations.
